Education and Youth Department
The Department was instituted in 1985 and had the task of unifying and coordinating work in the areas of Christian Education and amongst the Youth of the country and to recommend to Synod such measures as shall advance such work in the Diocese. This work was to be carried out under the supervision of a Diocesan Director of Education and Youth, Regional Directors and a Manager of Anglican Schools.
In 2000 the Department was restructured to be headed by an Executive Director with the portfolio being placed in three divisions that of Christian Education, Schools and Youth Ministry and each being headed by a divisional director.
The work of the Department is being guided by the Mission statement of the Board which states:
“The Diocese perceives faith as an integral part of the human quest for meaning and seeks to provide educational opportunities for the doctrine to be lived in its experiential sense.”
The vision and mission of the Board of Education and Youth through the Department therefore, is to inspire the transformation of its members and to facilitate their actualization of the Gospel through its programmes.
As we seek to fulfill this mandate the Department has chosen as its theme for 2004 “Educating and Evangelising the next generation”. This will be worked out through the various programmes and events of the three divisions - Christian Education, Schools and Youth. Staff
