HOW MANY WAYS CAN WE DESCRIBE
WHAT IS OFFERED BY THE

Hillcrest Diocesan Retreat Centre?

THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.

We welcome guests and retreatants, both men and women, persons of all faiths or no faith, for spiritual direction, for rest, or for a time to share in a life of prayer and contemplation. We are also open to individuals and groups from Congregations, Cures, school Agencies and Companies.

All are welcome for Quiet Days, Study Days, Days of Reflection, Visits for worship, Confession, and Spiritual Direction, as well as groups for conferences.

In the cool hills of Saint Ann, in close proximity to the beaches of the North Coast, the Centre offers a rare oasis of quiet, away from the boisterous energy of a major city.

Somehow, it is easier to tune out the activity and noise here, whether guests choose a time of prayer surrounded by the simple beauty of our chapel, or a period of meditation at any of our quiet spots, dotting the five acres.

You are encouraged to join us for the daily Eucharist, Morning and Evening Prayer -an opportunity to share the ancient customs of corporate life and worship at regular times during the day.

You will encounter times and areas of silence. Depending on the individual or group, all meals may be in silence, except on Sundays and major feast days. Often a first taste of silence is a refreshing contrast to the noise to which we have become so accustomed. Silence can also test us. The Centre is here to assist you in your journey with Christ.

The term Retreat has many meanings, and we offer our definitions to help you decide what will be most useful for you. Ordinarily, retreats are silent, with a personal spiritual purpose. If you want a restful visit, spending a little of your time in conversation with us and other visitors, be sure to let us know.

Conducted retreats are groups who share the experience (usually a weekend, sometimes longer, sometimes just a day) with a designated conductor who presents several meditations. A Private Retreat usually means that you need little or no help to prepare - that you know what you need for your time here. Directed Retreats offer the help of our resident priest in preparing reading, subjects for meditation, conferences, or any other help you might need.

Hillcrest Retreat Centre is a 30-bed retreat and conference facility, with spacious meeting rooms, a non-lending library, and the Saint Anne Chapel. The dinning room offers an intimate group setting with food provided by our own staff. The usual accommodation provided is double occupancy with shared bathroom facilities. The cost per person is JA$ 3000.00 for the weekend or JA$ 1000.00 per week day. For overseas groups the rate is US$ 50 per day. There are three private rooms available at a higher rate. Bookings will only be confirmed if a deposit of JA$ 6000 is made. The Deposit for overseas groups is US$ 150.
